UGANDA SHOWED UP IN MOMBASA
From 2nd–6th September, AGRITRADE Uganda had the opportunity to showcase Ugandan products at the ASK Mombasa Showgrounds as part of Uganda’s Economic and Commercial Diplomacy efforts.
And what happened was encouraging.
Over five days, we engaged 200+ people and collected approximately 75 contacts.
Our products were not just displayed—they were embraced and bought.
Mulondo sold out by Day Two. Our powdered garlic, ginger and okra attracted a lot of curiosity, while many visitors were genuinely surprised to learn that Uganda grows vanilla.
Perhaps the most encouraging question we repeatedly received was:
“Can I continue getting this in Mombasa?”
That is the kind of question an exporter wants to hear.
We also opened conversations with hotels, the Mombasa Chamber and other potential buyers. Now comes the important part—following up and turning these conversations into actual trade.
πΊπ¬ AND THEN UGANDA WON!
The Uganda Pavilion was awarded Best Foreign Exhibitor, receiving a trophy from the organisers.
That is a proud moment for all of us who participated and represented Uganda.
But there is something else we must acknowledge.
Honour where honour is due.
The success of Uganda’s presence was greatly supported by the Consulate General of the Republic of Uganda in Mombasa.
We sincerely thank H.E. Amb. Herbert Kiguli, Consul General; Mr. Shadrack Wasike; Mr. Samora; Mr. Moses Mpuugu; Solomon Aliobe; Mr. Dennis; Miriam; Mr. Mugerwa Robert; Esther; Pamela; drivers George Kirigha and Pius; and the entire Mission team.
From transport and logistics to the exhibition space, daily presence, facilitation of meetings and simply being available when exhibitors needed support—the Mission stood with us.
It was a beautiful demonstration of what Economic and Commercial Diplomacy can look like when it is brought to life.
At AGRITRADE Uganda, we believe exhibitions should not end when the tents come down.
The real work begins afterwards.
We will now be following up the relationships and opportunities created in Mombasa and working towards converting market interest into sustainable trade.
To everyone who visited our stall, asked questions, bought our products, shared contacts or simply showed interest in Uganda—thank you.
And to the Uganda Mission in Mombasa—thank you for standing with Ugandan businesses. πΊπ¬
Uganda has a lot to offer. Let us keep connecting Uganda to the world.
